Mission

I view music as a bridge that connects the performer to the audience and the audience to one another. As a clarinetist collaborating with composers and musicians, my performances strive to share beautiful music with the hope audiences come away feeling enriched. Chamber music combines my personal contribution with that of a group, demonstrating to audiences that a diverse collection of people can work together to solve problems and produce a beautiful solution. I create music for these bonds that unite us, no matter our race, gender, or sexuality. Not only can I provide a listener with something necessary—relief, an outlet, understanding—but I too have the privilege of learning from the audience and connecting with them through a shared experience.

Through my musical pursuits as an openly gay musician, I hope to show other members of the LGBTQ+ community that they belong in this space and in this world. I want to be the queer representation I lacked when I grew up and encourage others to live as their true, authentic selves through my chamber ensemble and other endeavors. As queer people become more visible and accepted in classical music, it is my dream we become more accepted in society as well.
